I'm a 1.5 gen Korean-American (born in Korea, US-raised since age 2) living in California since the mid 80s. I'm of the generation where people would ask if I was Japanese or Chinese, and never knew where Korea was. Kimbap was forever "korean sushi" and I wished my mom would pack me PB&J sandwiches instead of stinky korean food.
It made me teary eyed to open this book and know that my sons grow up in a world where Kpop is played on the radio and kimbap is known as kimbap.
My sons were tickled pink to open the cabinet and freezer door and literally see our pantry contents! The book is beautifully illustrated and the interactive touch makes it so fun for the kids. I love the details and creativity. They are not just mere pop ups. The wheel of veggies and the roll up detail is so fun and creative!
I would love a bilingual version, with korean in it so grandparents can read this with their grandkids in their mother tongue!
